    Waterthrushes Texas

Saw these Waterthrush on April 9 and 25th respectively in High Island Texas. The first, I know, is a Louisiana, but it seems that the white is notas white as I would expect for the Louisiana. It does have the sparse streaks especially compared to the second bird, and the birds definitely look...

    Hudsonian vs Black-tailed Godwit ID

I posted the wrong picture on my previous post trying to differentiate the Black-tailed Godwit from the Hudsonian Godwit. I thought that I had taken pictures of the Hudsonian before I found the Black-tailed. Here is a picture of the bird that I found after the Black-tailed flew off (#1) Also...

    Denver CO and surrounding area

I had to check to see if there was a Double-breasted Cormourant. I agree with all of the IDs except it is a Double-crested Cormourant. I might have called it a Neotropic if I had seen it here, but the Double-crested is the only one that should be there.

    Black-tailed Godwit Texas

A Black-tailed Godwit is being seen in Texas, A state first. I am having trouble differentiating the difference between that and the Hudsonian that is with it. I am posting 4 pictures and would like you to tell me which one is the Hudsonian and why. Maybe they are all Black-tailed Godwits...

    Vireo in Central Texas

Hey Grebe, check out the juvie White-eyed Vireo Pics... They do not have white eyes. In case you didn't know that. I really didn't think that I saw a Bell's that day, but I guess I took a picture of one. I was actually leaning towards that, but was not happy with that ID for some reason...

    what is this wader?

I can't tell what the small shorebird is, obviously why I am posting similar species for my identification issues. I am wondering if that is a Greater Yellowlegs with the Willet, but maybe somebody who knows more will post.

    Texas shorebirds and mergansers

I have real problems with shorebirds and would appreciate some help with these shorebirds and mergansers that I saw a couple of weeks ago in Galveston, Texas. Would you please tell me what the identifying traits are?

    What makes a good bird?

After seeing the Snowy Owl in Dallas, and all of the excitement that it caused, I have been trying to figure out what gets people's birding juices flowing. I can see why the Snowy Owl in Texas would cause quite a stir, but they are seen up north a lot more consistently and they still get people...

    Nikon ED82, P5000, FSB-6 problems newbie

I just bought a Nikon P5000, FSB-6, and the 16x24x30x eyepiece to go with my Nikon ED82. I was really psyched about getting to take advantage of my scopes glass. I am trying to get more reach than I get with my Sigma 150-500 and D90, and I had all sorts of problems. I went out yesterday to...

    Flycatcher in Texas

I thought that I had posted the short primary projection. EricCarpenter, a top birder of the area agreed that it was probably a Least. My problem is that I doesn't look like a dwarf with the big head and smaller body that I associate with Leasts. Least sounds like the best option though...
