    Unknown bird song in Belgium

I have just been informed by someone more skilled than me, that it is a singing water rail. Checking up, it seems like this is the correct identification. Thanks for all your tips.

    Unknown bird song in Belgium

Original poster here. Thanks for your thoughts. Here are mine: Brambling: the mystery bird song contains two parts. The second bit does sound like a brambling, but as Slipymor pointed out, the preceding "dsip, dsip, dsip" does not. Yellowhammer: I know a yellowhammer song very well and this was...

    Bird/nature photos required for blog

Hi. I would like to ask if there is a BF member who would be willing to share his or her photos on an occasional, but regular basis, for a blog I am thinking of starting up on birdwatching and associated nature studies. I am not a photographer myself. I tried, but it didn't work out. I just...

Birding and the value of meeting with other birders

All I know is that birding with a group increases (a) your chance of seeing something (b) your chance of identifying it correctly (c) the fun.

    White or pied wagtail uk

Coming from the UK where everything is a pied wag, I was most surprised to find 99% of the "pied" wagtails over here are actually called "white" wagtails, and even more surprised to see that they are actually different from pied wagtails!
