    Bird Atlas 2007–11

Thanks for the reply. I'll see if there is an option to get it delivered to work.

    Bird Atlas 2007–11

Atlas Is it available in bookshops? I fancy a trip into London tomorrow and would like to pick up a copy. I was daft enough not to pre-order it and would be at work when one of these hopeless courier services would try to deliver it anyway.

    Birdfair 2013

Birdfair. I'll be there on the Friday, already got my ticket to save queuing so much. The main attraction for me is the lectures, especially the conservation ones, not too fussed about the one which are aimed at promoting holidays. Will have a look around the marquees with main interest in the...

    RSPB's New Logo

Nay Sayers There seems to be a never ending wave of criticism from some bird watchers about the RSPB which I find disappointing. I wouldn't object to a new name, dropping the 'Royal' for example but maybe that would be a step too far for some members. Perhaps this gentle evolution is the best...

    Interesting Tree at Football Ground

Nice Ash. I told you I didn't know much about trees! Thanks for the info. They are going to do building work at the ground to upgrade it for higher level football but I hope they keep the tree. Perhaps it has a preservation order on it.

    Interesting Tree at Football Ground

I was at a football match at a ground in the Kent countryside yesterday. In one corner, just outside the pitch perimeter, was was looked like a very old and interesting tree. I took a picture of it and have attached it to this post. I don't know my trees very well but could it be a Yew?

    Saving the spoon-billed sandpiper

This is a new DVD that is essentially a documentary of the 2011 expedition to Eastern Russia to collect SBS chicks for the captive breeding programme. I got it yesterday at the Birdfair and have just watched it. It is very good, the footage of the chicks is remarkable. I would recommend this...

    invasion year for waxwings?

Waxwings at Leighton Moss I saw my first ever Waxwings today at RSPB Leighton Moss. There were around 15 on a tree at the back of the car park near the path to Lillians Hide. Well chuffed. Good views of a Bittern on the ice bound lake as well.

    Mark Avery dancing!

Very Good Video If you look in the background you can see their colleagues whom aren't involved with the 'dancing' throwing snowballs at their mates!

    Slender-billed Curlew quest

Cracking down on dodgy birding Highway Man, I read your blog. I don't see anything wrong with the pic of the trespassing birder being removed from a farmers field by Lincolnshire's finest. What mag is he the editor of though? Name and shame........NAME AND SHAME!!!!! ;)

    'British Birds' Dec 08

Birdwatch 'Birdwatch' is my favourite bird mag. My main interest is in conservation and it always has interesting stuff on the subject. The mag is even a Species Champion for the Azores Bullfinch. Sound or what! The SBC laminated card and article this month are pretty special. I haven't had a...

    IE warning

No such thing as total security! You have to be pragmatic about security on the net. No software is secure, even when fully patched. If it was then it wouldn't need any more patches and will we see any more IE patches.....of course we will! Firefox isn't any more likely to be secure, it's just...
