    Nosy House Sparrows

A pair of Golden fronted woodpeckers are very busy tending to a nest in a hollow of an Ash tree in my back yard. They are also busy frequently chasing off House Sparrows that keep hanging around the nest. Does anybody know what the sparrows are up to? Thanks.

    Life without Hummingbirds?

Hi Bill, thanks for finding and posting the pictures of the old world jewels. Their relationship to our hummingbirds is visually obvious; and they are gorgeous. The only problem is that I now realize that i will have to live without them. Best regards

    Life without Hummingbirds?

Thanks for the article, Bill. Most interesting. I wonder why it did not include a picture comparing a hummingbird with a sunbird?

    Life without Hummingbirds?

I saw Attenborough's TV program on Hummingbirds this weekend. What a delight. I was surprised to learn that hummingbirds exist only in the New World. How on earth do Old World people live without seeing Hummingbirds?

Nikon Monarch 8x42 (7430) - Sticky rubber armor

Have you asked if there is some warranty coverage from Nikon for this kind of problem? By the way I have a ten year old Monarch 8-42 that I also value dearly for some of the same reasons you mention.

    Dripping feeders

Thanks guys. I think I have the same problem as the PumaMan. Its very hot in South Texas and the nectar is cool when I first set it out so expansion is bound to occur. I'll have to get some of the dish type feeders. Otherwise I'll just have to live with the problem.

    Dripping feeders

Why do feeders drip when you first fill and hang them up? Is there a way to prevent this? Thanks.
