    Golden Eagles

Without wishing to rain on your parade. I doubt that anyone will be providing exact locations of birds for obvious reasons. I would also forget trying to photograph wild Golden Eagles as you will not have a lens long enough to get a decent shot and you will likely be arrested for getting too...

    See Ya Norton...but...

I use AVG free edition (by grisoft) which can be downloaded from File Hippo, also use Adaware for spyware and Spybot search and destroy - with those three on the go, nothing gets by. In my opinion they are just as good as the versions that you pay for

    Which raw converter?

I use Capture One and find that pretty good, otherwise I use Capture NX by Nikon.

    Neat Image Software

I use Noiseware which is a similar product - except there is a free 'community version' available - I have in the past used Neat Image, and I moved to noiseware as it generally did a better job. I started with the community edition and eventually upgraded to the Photoshop plug in Here is the...

White Sparrow type bird? Can anyone ID?

I have looked through a wide variety of books that I own and cannot find anything that even comes close - so I am assuming it is probably an escapee?

I am posting this on behalf of my father who saw this bird. My father lives in Benfleet, Essex backing onto the Hadleigh nature reserve and Thames Estuary Can anyone give any suggestions for an ID? "The bird was virtually pure white with no visible other markings and was in the company of...

    New Lidl Binocular offer

I picked up a pair today and was surprised at just how good they were for the money. These will make a great pair to leave in the boot of the car or at the office. You can never have too many pairs of binoculars you know.................

    Scaup or Lesser Scaup?

I found a scaup on my local patch today. It didn't have the usual dark green head, instead it had a black head. It also had a dirty scruffy grey body, where it should have been crisp clean white. I think that it was a lesser scaup - I am still waiting for someone to verify it. Unfortunatly...

Birds you think you saw but didn't tick.

A kingfisher which flew past so quickly that I caught the blur of blue on it's back. But as I was on a saltwater marsh standing next to the sea I thought that I must have been seeing things. I saw it again some months later sitting on a fence post and ticked it then, and maybe will learn to...

    Funny white wader

Possibly although it's back was completely white and I would suggest that the beak was slightly longer than on a plover?
