    Yellowlegs, California

This morning, I went to a spot in San Jose, California where both Greater Yellowlegs and Lesser Yellowlegs are often found. I am wondering whether this is a Lesser Yellowlegs. It is the one on the right in the photo with multiple birds. Sorry, I don't have any photos with a different bill angle.

    Accipiters, California

Thanks for all the replies so far. The broad, rufous streaks are what make me think they are Sharp-shinned, but I can also see that the tail suggests Cooper's. I'll wait for more replies.

    Accipiters, California

The first two photos are of one bird, seen on September 13 in San Jose, California. The second two photos are of another bird, seen on September 14 in Mountain View, California. I'm thinking they are both Sharp-shinned Hawks, but Cooper's would be much more likely.

    Possible Semipalmated Sandpiper, California

Yes, one was reported there four days before I took that photo.

    Possible Semipalmated Sandpiper, California

Thanks for the replies. I've found another picture of it that doesn't show the legs or the bill, but it shows the back in better light.

    Possible Semipalmated Sandpiper, California

This bird was among Western Sandpipers at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine, California on August 14. Its has a shorter, straighter bill than the other sandpipers, so I am wondering if it is a Semipalmated Sandpiper. Sorry I don't have any other photos of it.

    Tanzania - Black Tern?

Thanks for the detailed analysis. That's very interesting. FWIW, the only other terns that I could identify in the park that day were Whiskered Terns.

    Warbler in Tanzania

Thanks for the replies. Based on your photos, it does look like a Rattling Cisticola. Sorry my photos were overexposed.

    Warbler in Tanzania

This little bird was by the hippo pond in Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania on June 24. I would appreciate any help in identifying it.

    Tanzania - Black Tern?

I photographed this tern at Lake Manyara in Tanzania on June 24. I am thinking that the extent of the black makes it look more like a Black Tern than a White-winged Tern, but Black Tern would be quite rare there. I would appreciate any analysis.

    Peep, San Francisco Bay

Oh, yeah. I think it is the bird in the background of the photo in post #2.
