Chinese optics can be really excellent nowadays. When you buy german optic brands, you buy some quality, this is where the differences appear between chinese and german models. When you compare side by side Hawke and Zeiss, you can't really notice a difference until you check pure chromatic...- Giorgio

Hi Pileatus. I am part of the persons preferring the 8x30 Habicht to the 8x32 SE, for pure optical properties. What about binoclars quality is defined by one's subjectivity and not one's objectivity? New Habicht who has experience?
If i remember correctly, the last models of 10x40 Habicht are on axis very very sharp with a well controled CA. I don't think you will find a roof as sharp on axis. Its 3D is very good with a nice depth of field. The blurring of axis is a bit like the one you find in the 8x30 model, the blurr... -

Sad to see the FOV is still sharp to only 60-65% for the 7x35 model. Same goes for its bad of axis CA correction. It seems the lenses are still the same since the VII range, just the coatings are improved (they are more blueish than the previous greenish coatings), the 7x50 Aculon is excellent... -

The 8x30 Habicht is clearly a better choice than the 8x30 Cl. Habicht is at 740€, CL is at 860€. The Habicht has to me one of the best on axis performances from all alphas i've looked through, including Swarovisions, Edg, FL. So why getting a CL with normal optics and high price? -

Are ACULONS the new ACTION porros?
As you say Frank. The unexpecting thing is that the Ex model, the lonely one to be waterproof, is the smoothest of all the Action range lol. The 7x35 i have and the others i tried have their weels as smooth as butter. I never understood why. Even the non WP Action VII are stiffer than the Ex. -

I just remember to tell you also, the focus was very stiff the first days. Getting smoother with use, but it's not that great. -

The VII and Ex were sharp to about 60-70% depending of the models, like 60% for the 7x35 and 70% for the 10x50. The body weakness of the 7x50 model i got, is clearly too weak eyecups. I don't know if it's made on purpose, but turning them up/down is way too easy, so when you press them only a... -

It would be nice to see how their 7x35 edge sharpness performs compared to the previous 7x35 VII or Ex. If they are a 7x35 sharp to the 80-85%, that would be a real progress. The 7x50 is much more improved compared to the VII and Ex.
