nocmig - couple of mediocre UK recordings for ID suggestion pls, night 22/23 March24

Unable to access the files but you could run the files through Merlin or Birdnet app amd then double check sonograms via xeno canto to confirm any hits.

    24/7 Raspberry Pi/birdNET monitoring

Any tutorials on how to use birdNET analyser? I've installed it and it works fine when using short clips. When uploading longer .wav files the file appears not to be there on completion.

    24/7 Raspberry Pi/birdNET monitoring

Thank you. What I'm trying to understand is of there are active users of the birdweather device and what is their experience compared to other options. Deletion of non-IDs is a big drawback for me. Anyone who's done nocmig knows that unknown are a regular feature. Also it really depends on the...

    Birdweather recording device

Hi, has anyone got any hands on experience with the birdweather recording device? BirdWeather - a living library of bird vocalizations. I've previously used a voice recorder, then an audiomoth and then a parabolic dish for nocmig recording (with the dish being best by far). I've given up on...

Source of bird recording gear based in the UK

I've used this for some time (after starting out with just a recorder and then an audiomoth device). A real step up in quality/sensitivity. Very happy with the results generally, although I don't have the comparison to the branded equipment. Very easy to use too...

Large Gull ID, UK - 23/02

Had wondered about YL Gull in the field but reviewing the pics I wonder if it is just a Herring Gull. Thoughts/comments welcome.

Collins bird guide 3rd edition in an App

I had the same issue for a while. I had to click on the three lines, open any of the options and then go out again for content to appear. It was like that for a few weeks but all working fine now.

Collins bird guide 3rd edition in an App

I've just made the upgrade. £6.99 with a small £1 discount. Personally I think the app is good and I've been using it rather than the book even before the upgrade. Having to go in/out for each species is slightly cumbersome, especially when trying to compared similar species but not a deal...

Had this down as a 2W Yellow-legged Gull. UK, 28 Sep 23. Confirmation would be appreciated.

    OM-1 with Panasonic Leica 100-400

Unfortunately the combination did not work for me at all and have sent back to retailer. The camera functionality looks great though. I was unable to get decent images even with close stationery targets. Some of this probably due to technique but I used the settings others had described as...

    Guide TD210 - any users?

Shame, do you think the more expensive ones could do that? How far a reach do you think yours has?

    Lighter alternative to 100-400 II

Have now gone for the Om-1 with panaleica 100-400 with decision made on reasonable (expected) results as a birding set-up and mostly weight. Would have liked to go with R7 and RF 100-400 but deal breaker was the (non existing) wetherseal for the lens.

    Guide TD210 - any users?

I had wondered about this and asked in previous thread. I would want to use it exactly for the same purpose, find the birds by heat source and then use bins. What distance can it cover? Would it e.g. detect the heat source of a Wheatear 200m away in a field? Not interested in doing any more with...
