    iPhone 14 Pro Digiscoping Review

Which of the three lenses on the back iPhone 14 pro are you using for digiscoping? It looks like the right lens is the telephoto lens however I've had mixed results with it.

    It's a Panasonic GH4 with the 100-300mm lens. Greg

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Birding videos I have recently posted some videos on Vimeo of birds seen this week in Cheshire and the Wirral: Green-winged Teal at Neumann's Flash: https://vimeo.com/151048671 Pallas's Warbler at Hewsall: https://vimeo.com/151003433 Long-eared Owl at Burton Mere...

    Disocoping with the Panasonic GH4

Does anyone have any problems or issues with the lack of image stabilisation on the GH4 - particularly regarding video? I know it's available on compatible lenses but if attached using say a TLS APO on a telescope then likely to be an issue in windy conditions? Greg

    VideoScoping - camcorder or camera?

You're right Neil - looks like playing around with different options is the best approach. Thanks again to you and Murat for your advice. Greg

    VideoScoping - camcorder or camera?

Murat and Neil, Many thanks for your prompt and detailed responses. At this stage I'm not too concerned about 4k footage as that would require an expensive upgrade of all my kit! Good quality 1080p is fine. The Sony RX100M3 is therefore looking like a good option but the downside seems to be...

    VideoScoping - camcorder or camera?

I currently have a camcorder based video set up that includes a Canon XH-A1, a Panasonic HC-X920 and a Sony HDR-HC3. The Canon and Panasonic are great for general usage and shoot good quality 1080p footage. I used the Sony for longer range videos and attached it to my Swarovski ATS80 telescope...

    4K Videoscoping with Sony FDR-AX100E

Thanks again Neil - you raised some interesting ideas for me so if you don't mind, rather than continue to hijack other topics, I'll raise a new topic in the VideoScoping section of this forum to highlight what I'm trying to achieve and what I think you've told me already. Greg

    4K Videoscoping with Sony FDR-AX100E

Hi Murat - you say the X920 with a normal spotting scope works OK however for me there is far too much vignetting. What attachments to the scope are you using? Greg

    Disocoping with the Panasonic GH4

Going off GH4 topic a bit here I know but Sony rx100m3 looks great but will only attach with a bulky digidapter by the look of it (has no lens filter thread). Advantage of the TLS or even the DCA is that they fit simply over the eyepiece. Still on the look out for good HD video quality with...

    Disocoping with the Panasonic GH4

Thanks again for the info Neil. I already have a camcorder set up using the Panasonic HC-X920 plus a 3x converter which gets me good quality HD footage at closer ranges but need something for more extreme situations. I used to attach an older Sony camcorder to the telescope just using a DCA...

    Disocoping with the Panasonic GH4

Thanks for the response Neil. Do you know what crop ratio you get using GH3 or 4 for video with an ATS80 and the TLS adapter? I'm presuming it's about the same as using a lens fitted to the camera and using a Digidapter?

    Disocoping with the Panasonic GH4

Neil, I'm looking to use GH3 or GH4 for video on Swarovski ATS80HD - do you recommend using TLS or DCB adapters? Also, what's sound quality like with these cameras? I recognise won't be as good as camcorder Greg

    Stilt Sandpiper

I've finally got round to uploading some video I took of the recent Stilt Sandpiper when it was at Neumann's Flash - see link below http://vimeo.com/74450540

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Wonder if this was same as "Turtle Dove" reported at Neumann's recently? Actually seems more likely than that reported given the state of TDs in the UK currently.
