I think that bird is possible to id in these pics 100%. We don't need description of song at all to be convinced on this species. By the way, I have never mix together songs of these two-three species, because songs really are so dissimilar in reality. Sometimes I have suspect some Blyth's Reed...- hannu

Shouldn't tail look darker too if the wader will be Dotterel? See the first bird in the follow link: http://observations.be/fotonew/2/978092.jpg Head side is proportionally too long for Dotterel if we compare to the width of wing.- hannu

I'm still suspicious of Dotterel identification. The colouration of belly does not reach the trailing edge of wing in this case as it should be, if the bird is Dotterel? Also the colouration of upperpart does not look so uniform as I'd assume to be in Dotterel. But thankfully everyone can have...- hannu

Phil, if you zoom in this photo, you'll see e.g. slightly spotted colouration of belly, which should not be in Dotterel. This bird seems to be whitish throat/face, reddish breast and blackish belly as some male ruff. The colour reaching rather far down to the lower belly also in Ruff, in the...- hannu

Not necessary! Two reasons: a) this wader seems to be closed tail (most pic examples shows open tails) and b) you see it from the back_below perspective, which shortens feets. Sounds sensible? :t:- hannu
