    Good Start to 2023

    Middle Tennessee: hiked about three hours at a nearby state park and got the following: Canada Goose (10) Mallard (12, 6 mating pairs) Ring-necked Duck (at least 7 female and 2 male) Bufflehead (2 male definitively, diving in lake pretty far away) Great Blue Heron (1, flew right up to us)...

    Athlon Midas 8x42. Nice wide views. These could be my new birders.

    New birder here. I picked up the same binocs based on this Wirecutter review (linked below) in The New York Times. They are heads above the Bushnells I was using. So much more light and detail. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-binoculars/
