    Several thousand flying around in the valley and a few found water.

    The cedar waxwings showed up a couple of weeks ago. Their favorite hackberry tree died in the big freeze we had a couple years ago. Plenty of Yaupon berries though

    The feeder birds go on red alert when the waxwings are in town. The cardinals guard the feeders, the house finches don’t care, and the chickadees and gold finches are being bullied by the yellow rump warbler that shows up this time of year. The Ruby crowned kinglet is sneaking around as usual...

    They stop in the same tree at the same time every morning for a few weeks, almost every year for the last 30+ years.
