10 x nn SV recommendations
SP: Personally, a larger/heavier binocular is easier for me to hold steady than a smaller/lighter example. Ergos or hand comfort is really not a big issue to me with any binocular--including Canons IS. The comparison I use is looking at a house or a boat light in the dark at 100 or 200... -

Binoculars for sustained use in shade and low light
Chicored: Have posted before my personal experience with the HT 10x54 and the 10x56 Swaro SLC (new model). I wanted that Zeiss badly for the ergos, but the SLC's performance for me was compelling in low to very low light. It wasn't a one-off comparison either--had both for months. Excellent bin.- huronbay

Temmie: I cannot speak for the OP. Veer is a strong word, for example, what picture does a veering car create in my mind...too many Tequilas! As I said changes in corporate make me wary. My anecdotal experience with Zeiss products via CS over the last couple years reinforces that wariness... -

I love the slow focus mechanism on the 8.5 EL I bought in 2000. Apparently I am the only one. They offered to replace it for the refurbishment it had recently, but did decline. -

Agreed. Am reasonably sure the AK prism change to the 56mm came in 2014 as did update my 15x56 SLCs then. Those are no slouch in low light department either, for that matter. -

Tricky, IIRC the intro year was 2014. (add 30 to the SN). Someone knowledgeable may correct that. Thus, used market may be a bit thin. No doubt others have good suggestions for hedgies...:)
