    Canon 50mm f1.8 II

You're actually complaining about this lens? Sure there are better ones for 4 times the price. I have it and considering what I paid for it I am more than happy. Jeremy

    50D or 40D?

Update Just a little update but I finally broke down and got the 40D. $829.00 cdn, not a bad price. Jeremy

    50D or 40D?

Thanks for all the helpful advive. It really doesn't seem that the 50D is that much of an improvement on the 40D. With the price of the 40D now dipping below the $1k mark it seems to be the best for the money.

    50D or 40D?

Thanks for that. I just saw your other post regarding the 50D and the "cons" in that review really kill it. That pretty much decides it for me. 40D and some saved cash Jeremy

    50D or 40D?

Sorry I should have specified. I don't have a 40D. I have an old 350D/Rebel XT that I want to upgrade. I'm leaning towards the 50D because of the pixel count for cropping but I don't know if it will be worth the $450 premium over the 40D. Jeremy

    50D or 40D?

I've been considering this upgrade since the 50D came out. So what I'm curious is about whether the advances in the 50D make it worth the additional cost. The 50D having higher MP and higher ISO functionality seem like they would be very useful for birding. I'm just curious is the higher ISO...

Tamron 200-500mm vs. Sigma 50-500mm DG

Wow I have not signed in for a long time and saw this thread still here. I got the Bigma from B&H back in 2005 but Henry's or Downtown camera in Toronto are good places to go. Downtown has it for $1100. Jeremy P.S. Lens is still working great only downside I've seen is the paint on the tripod...

End in sight for Big Glass ?

I totally agree with you, higher resolution will eventually overcome the need for large focal length lenses.

Tamron 200-500mm vs. Sigma 50-500mm DG

I got those stats from the Sigma and Tamron sites. Regardless I ended up getting the Sigma 50-500mm DG and am really happy with it.

Tamron 200-500mm vs. Sigma 50-500mm DG

Could someone explain to me how focal length and magnification compare? The Tamron has a magnification of 5.0 @ 500mm where the Sigma has a magnification of 5.2 @ 500mm? I don't really understand this and is 0.2 worth anything? Jeremy

Tamron 200-500mm vs. Sigma 50-500mm DG

Thanks rezMole, I'm starting to think the Tamron is the way to go. It's hard to find a bad review on either. Jeremy

Tamron 200-500mm vs. Sigma 50-500mm DG

I know I've read some comparisons on here about these lenses and the Sigma Bigma lens seems to be the better of the two. But I can get the Tamron 200-500mm for $1250 Cdn or the Sigma 50-500mm DG for $1499 Cdn. I'm still leaning towards the Sigma because of the reviews I've read but want to get...
