    Independent Senegal?

Flying out on Tuesday for 12 days. Recent news that Elections are being rescheduled probably means any unrest may die down. Not had our ground crew tell us not to go. Typically we do our trips independently but opted to get a driver and guide to save us the hassle during a trip that came...

Seeking advice for birding western Costa Rica on a budget

Not sure what a budget trip is but here is some info on some spots in that area, admittedly not a full on hardcore birding trip. Ebird lists in there so you can get a sense of species. https://naturescapeimages.wordpress.com/?s=Costa+rica&submit=Search Search out Pat O'Donnell on the web. His...

    Birding in Yucatan Tips

Staying in Cancun, your trips will be limited to areas close to there such as the Botanical Gardens and Reserva Toh, both of which I heard are good, but I have not visited. I have done two Nov trips, both detailed with images and ebird checklists below...

Independent Colombia (Santa Marta and Central / Western Andes) July 2023

Niels, Thanks for that information. Apologies if it should have been a separate thread. I think at this point, we're aiming for 3 nights near Tayrona and 4 nights at El Dorado, or maybe a night at Minca if we have to. Probably looking to avoid renting a car since we'll not need it at El Dorado...

Independent Colombia (Santa Marta and Central / Western Andes) July 2023

Hi, Planning a trip to Santa Marta in November independently with my partner so it will be a few days near the beach then a few days in the mountains, either at the Mountain House or actually staying at a lodge in Minca as a base. I will not have the time to get to El Dorado I believe. Still...

    Colombian Chocó (PNN Utria/Bahia Solano/Nuqui)?

Filip, Thanks. Looks nice. At this point looking at the El Nino and that November is still rainy, we are probably opting for the Cartagena side and exploring options there, but if the Harpy nests there, definitely a boys trip!!

    Colombian Chocó (PNN Utria/Bahia Solano/Nuqui)?

Hi All, Based on the potential of Harpy Eagle I was looking at Bahia Solano area as a trip. I am planning to go with my partner so not a hardcore birding trip and the area was recommended as being quiet with some nice beach areas. A couple of general questions: 1. Flights are.from Medellin...

    Japan Trip December 2023

Go to Cloud birders on the web, and search for our (Nick Bonomo, Dave Provencher and myself) 2018 trip report that has a lot of helpful info on logistics. Sorry don't have the link to hand.

    A few neotropic bird paintings

As a designer, I need to invest some time getting to grips with digital painting. I just started painting with watercolor two years ago and now I have to jump on another medium. These are terrific and a great example of how technology is expanding outlr creativity. Smashing work Bryan!

Birding at Kruger camps, South Africa

Dave, Yeah, out in the bush, common sense makes sense. Did anyone have any issues spotlighting around Camps at night - Satara has an African Wildcat and obviously some owls will be looked for. I plan on staying on paths and not kicking around in the bushes at night even if scorpions and snakes...

Birding at Kruger camps, South Africa

Thanks Mike, Yeah, I may have to balance getting some birding in vs getting the family out sin e birding from the car may be less leisurely with three non birders in the car! I definitely want to optimize the time to see the cats, but not sure I want to enroll in the stories of people...

Birding at Kruger camps, South Africa

Hey Steve, so as I have moved along with booking, I was going to get out at first light and bird the camps making the kids grab breakfast early and then head out after the gate rush. 1. You found that going out when the gates open and then birding the camps around 10 ish was better for you...
