    I know the weather was a bit strange yesterday but I suddenly had around 30 House Martins wheeling about in front of the house, haven't previously seen one! This lasted for about an hour - any explanation?

    We have a newly ploughed and planted field opposite us which is bounded by allotments then road and down one side are trees/bushes and gardens backing on - so quite a varied possible habitat!!

    Well, my husband really felt it must be a caged bird of some sort because the sound always comes from exactly the same place, and I've been hearing this for maybe 6 or 8 weeks now, and it doesn't sound like a juvenile bird, and I've never heard anything like it before, now I'm the first to admit...

    Oh my gosh, it's really that simple,I knew it!, how embarrassing. That would explain why I can't see it! It's such a loud call, althought it doesn't sound it on the clip and it's always in the same place. I just looked at a website which has the call for the quail mentioned in the first reply...

    I wanted to upload a short video from my mobile phone which has a bird call on it that I can't identify, but the site won't let me - it's in MP4 format apparently and invalid - is there a way I can over come this please?
