    2017 Western Palearctic Big Year

It is possible to see them by the middle of August in Lithuania. But they become not so active in August, almost silent. So July would be an easier option.

    Killed in Latvia, Siberian Rubythroat

The message in Tarsiger was changed recently. Now it sounds like this: 1st-winter female Siberian Rubythroat trapped (for ringing), but "collected" for ID etc. at Lauteri, Salacgriva county 3rd November, the 1st record for Latvia (source: www.latvijasputni.lv) In Latvijasputni.lv is this...

    Bird Feeder

I have a similar feeder by myself. I use it for peanuts only. If sunflower seeds are smaller, the mesh could be too big for them as well.

    Lapland

I saw one female Steller's Eider, among the Common Eiders, along the Vardo coast, the exact coordinates of the place are 70.381975,31.079099. Our trip was in the period of 19 June - 1 July 2011.

    Lapland

We didn't see Steller's around the island, but we saw one or two female type birds in the other fjord, can't remember the exact place now. I'll dig my notes and post the name later. The island was Hornoya. It was a boat trip from Vardo and one of the highlights of the whole trip. Short video...

    Dugongs in UAE

I'm going to Oman for birdwatching during the first two weeks of March 2015. The flight will be to Dubai. I'm wondering is there any possibility to see a Dugong somewhere along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf? Does anybody know some people or company which runs boat trips to see them?

    Kruger trip February 2014

It would be interesting to know from what population do Rollers winter in Kruger or other parts of SA. Two years ago some of Latvian (birds which breed in Latvia) were equipped with geo-locators and some Spanish and Southern France Rollers were equipped with satellites. In the attached map you...

    Kruger trip February 2014

We spent a week in Kruger last September and there were plenty of Lilac-breasted Rollers, they were the commonest Rollers in the area. But we didn't see any European Rollers though. It was too early for them then. They still could be found here in Lithuania at this time of the year. The...

    Ring Ouzel in Spanish Pyrenees

Aaa, so it is because of torquatus only this subspecies is mentioned in Gosney's book. And probably because alpestris is common nobody bother to mention them in reports. Many thanks for your explanation, I hope I'll find them.

    Ring Ouzel in Spanish Pyrenees

I'm going to be in the Spanish Pyrenees on the first week of April. Maybe somebody knows good site for Ring Ouzel somewhere around Jaca or somewhere else but not so far to the East. I know that they could be found near eg. Llanaves de la Reina, but it is little bit too far.
