    If you want waders you're better off travelling to either the Ribble estuary at Lytham or the Wyre estuary. There are several good small nature reserves. This link should help. I don't tend to go seawatching but there are loads of salt marshes and mudflats in the area.

    I'm all for leaving it well alone. There are plenty of similar misnomers but changing language arbitrarily just confuses people for ages after it's done. I don't think people really think it means they're only found in the Mediterranean anyway: they just think they're common there.
