What kind of storm-petrel? northeast off Taiwan

My friend have photographed this storm-petrel sp. few days ago, about 5.5 nautical miles off Yilan County, Taiwan. The regular storm-petrel here should be Swinhoe's, but this one looks longer and more forked tail than usual Swinhoe's. According to my friend's statement, this bird has a little...

    Warbler ID in Norther Taiwan

Thank you very much, Andy. By my friends' statement, they only saw one warbler like this in the two days in the same small area. And nobody could make sure the eye ring condition in the field because it was so actively jumping in the branches and leaves. If it pointed to White-spectacled...

    Warbler ID in Norther Taiwan

Thanks for your comment, Ken. In my opinion, the Green-cronwed Warbler (Phylloscopus burkii) often has a broken eye ring at rear which is not shown in our bird. Also, the black lateral crown stripe extends to bill base in burkii. In Taiwan, we now have records of White-spectacled Warbler...

    Warbler ID in Norther Taiwan

There was a Warbler (previous Seicercus sp.) photographed by many birders few days ago in New Taipei City, Northern Taiwan. Some of the photos showed broken on top of the eye but others didn't. Unfortunately there was no any sound recorded. The tail pattern showed very white on R5 and R6 that...

White Wagtail (lugens x ocularis?), Taiwan

Thanks, John. In my opinion, the head pattern is compatible with the breeding plumage of ocularis by the thin eye stripe behind the eye and the black patch on throat reaching to bill base that lugens usually not. Otherwise, the back and wing pattern are good for lugens.

White Wagtail (lugens x ocularis?), Taiwan

There is a strange white wagtail found by my friend in nothern Taiwan today. Could it be a cross individual between ocularis and lugens ? Location: Taoyuan, northern Taiwan Date: 20-March-2019

    White Wagtail, Taiwan

Thanks, John. May I ask more about the sexing and ageing? Is this an adult male in breeding plumage?

    White Wagtail, Taiwan

There's another candidate of baicalensis recently in Taiwan again. Please help to ID the subsp. Thanks! It's very interesting to observe their migration in the same date! Date: 24th March, 2018 Location: Taoyuan County, Taiwan

    Yellow Wagtail, Taiwan

Here is a Yellow Wagtail in Dongyin island, Lienchiang County, Taiwan. Could anyone help to ID between M.t.macronyx/M.f.thunbergi, plz? Are there any stable characteristics to tell the difference? (IMO, macronyx is more possible than thunbergi because of the clean front area, obvious yellow...

    White Wagtail, Taiwan

WOW! Thanks for your ID, Grahame. Actually, the baicalensis is a mega rarity in Taiwan. Only one record was confirmed in last March. I want to make sure that it's O.K. for the white pannel pattern of greater/median coverts in this one ? Ting-Wei

    White Wagtail, Taiwan

Here is another "grey back, no eyestripe" wagtail in Taiwan, but no rump picture available this time. Could this one be baicalensis or just variation of leucopsis again ? IMO, the great coverts are two-aged, thus first-summer is more possible. Could baicalensis show the pattern of secondary...

    Yellow Wagtails, Taiwan

Thanks, but how to differentiate the macronyx from M. flava thunbergi in No.2 ? They looks so identical to me.
