    I read that this bird likes to lay eggs on piles of dry leaves on the forest floor, at the top of hills... and that's where exactly I heard the birds... At the top of the hill.

    I'm using "Australian Birds Sounds Pro" app, developed by luminous apps. Australian Birds Sounds Pro - Apps on Google Play It doesn't have all the birds in Australia, but it has so many of them.

    Ok, after painstakingly looking at the birds list of Nerang National Park and matching it to the Australian Bird Sounds app, I finally found the bird: White-throated nightjar.

    Thanks for that. I have the same book. I was skimming through the book and looking for any pale-grey headed birds. On the book, the picture of Varied Sittella - race leucocephala has a white-ish head, not really grey. Maybe the one I took is a bit of a younger bird??
