    Unboxing the Habicht 8x30

I always thought that the rear coverings of the modern Habicht are made of metal, the covers that say Habicht and 8x30W. But I read in a review just recently that they're actually plastic, is this true? I've been looking to buy a Habicht to have a waterproof Porro to accompany my 8x30 EII. Not...

    8x20 Monovid

Another technique that I find works well on a monocular is to hold it in a palm grip against your brow, but the index finger should be put to follow the curvature between the temple and the forehead. This makes for a very steady view!

Best Video Head with Arca Swiss type Quick release

:t: Adding in here. Been a user of the Berlebach 552 for 2 years now, it is very well machined and the Arca Swiss-system is hard to be without after trying it.

    Woodcock walking stick...

Splendid work! Good idea about using a harder material for the beak, really makes it more lively.

    Art and Birding Equipment plus

I've been working on paintings from my own field sketches in recent times. It can sometimes be really distracting for me to sketch if I have other people in vicinity, often I can sketch but I really have to put my mind to it. Silly as it may seem (we're all human I guess) I don't want to care...

Birds made of water, FIRE and earth

Wow, those are marvelous! I haven't seen fire being used before, I really like the deep brownish colour it brings out. Very cool. Number 2, 3 and 4 are my favourites.

    Shents Scribbles

I'm a big fan of quick watercolour paintings. These look real great!

    Moilanen's Birds

Yes it was a pretty fun medium to use, I used a thin paper though so it buckled immediately. Will maybe have another go at it in the future.

    Moilanen's Birds

Bit of experimentation with water soluble graphite. Tail should've been behind the branch, didn't see that until it was too late.

    Moilanen's Birds

I don't mind at all, that is some good advice you're giving me. I did not notice until now how big of a head the tufted duck had, funny how the eyes can be blinded when looking at one's own work. Perhaps the other bodies needs to be a bit larger too, the tufted duck stood out though. Thank you...

    Astroscope + DSLR = Gallery!

What a lovely shot Dan! Is that sap or something on its beak? A great detail. Beautiful birds they are. You must've had one helluva day, so many great pictures in that session.
