    Mallorca 2021

Great day indeed, what a nice bird! And very tame too. I got the chance to meet with Kevin, Dave, Mike and Phil and enjoy the bird with them. I also managed to grab a bit of footage that you can see here:

Sorry I don't post very often here but I got lucky this morning and found a Pectoral Sandpiper in Salobrar so I thought some of you may be interested. They are certainly not seen often in Mallorca and as this one just decided to land in front of me, I managed to snap a couple shots. It didn't...

Mike mentioned a Little Crake being seen in Binissalem, here is a picture of it, and that of a Sedge Warbler which was also present there. Also today, Mike and I, at different times, saw a large group of Whimbrels at Salobrar, a total of 62 which we believe must a record for the island.

    Mallorca 2019

Hi Mike, Sorry no pictures of the large groups. It was indeed very confusing as a lot of the Buzzards turned around as the southerly winds picked up a bit in the afternoon. I suspect a few of them could end up spending the night locally and depart tomorrow as the prediction is for northerlies...

It seems some of the common swifts will be left behind. The COFIB, local wildlife recovery centre, has over 600 chicks fallen off nests to feed every day, three times. They are calling on volunteers to help as their staff is completely overwhelmed by the situation.

A few of yesterday's birds in Can Guidet (Roller, Black and Whiskered Terns) and Prat de San Jordi (Gull-billed terns). Two of the latter were there this morning but the Rollers and Marsh terns had moved on.

Last week, I had a chance to participate in the monitoring of two potential Griffon roosting sites in the Tramuntana in an effort to update the last census of 54 birds some 7 years ago or so. At one site (Mossa) only 2 pairs showed up, visibly preparing nesting sites, while the other site...

A red-breasted Merganser in Salobrar this morning. Also a Bluethroat, Osprey, about 26 Cranes but over 50 were seen later in the day, 200 Flamingoes, lots of more usual waders, including 2 golden plovers. Tens of thousands of starlings.

Here are some pictures of an (the?) Egret I found today in Ciutat Jardi in a group of Little Egrets. The Southerly winds were strong so they had found refuge up a torrent. The consensus seems to be for an hybrid of Little and Cattle.
