    Monarch M7

Thanks very much for the report. Probably will hold true for the 8x30 as well.

Duel at sunset: Opticron Traveller ED 8x32 vs Kite Lynx HD+ 8x30 (and ELSV, Conquest HD)

Thanks Imans, I had read that comparison and it was really helpful. What I was referring to was some new reviews that compare the new Monarchs with the old Monarchs. I am more inclined to the Travellers but I am curious if the Monarchs have been significantly upgraded, especially as to glare...

Duel at sunset: Opticron Traveller ED 8x32 vs Kite Lynx HD+ 8x30 (and ELSV, Conquest HD)

I have yet to read a review that has a direct comparison with the "old" Monarchs, especially as to glare. If you have a link to one that would be interesting. Overall I'm more interested in the Opticons from what I know so far. I do have a preference for 32mm vs 30mm...generally an easier view...

Duel at sunset: Opticron Traveller ED 8x32 vs Kite Lynx HD+ 8x30 (and ELSV, Conquest HD)

Thanks very much. I will likely give them a try sometime when we get past the holidays. I just read Troubador's great new review of the Veranos and was somewhat confirmed in my guess -- that both binoculars are very good in their own ways...since I'm looking for lighter rather than more...

Duel at sunset: Opticron Traveller ED 8x32 vs Kite Lynx HD+ 8x30 (and ELSV, Conquest HD)

That's interesting...I wasn't aware of the Discovery...just had a quick look at the specs...amazing, a 32 with ED for under $300 and under 14oz! I'm sure the optics are less than incredible but they're still interesting to me as a really light alternative for when I'm not headed out on a major...

Duel at sunset: Opticron Traveller ED 8x32 vs Kite Lynx HD+ 8x30 (and ELSV, Conquest HD)

About three months ago I realized that I wanted a decent pair of pockets to take with me on my daily walks on the trails behind our house so I got a pair of Zeiss Terra 8x25 EDs. I had gotten tired of the wight of a good 8x32 around my neck (20-22 oz) when I was mostly "taking a walk" as opposed...

    Truck and car Binoculars

I have two Pentax 8x32 SPs that, in spite of being close to 20 years old, are both really excellent and they live in the trunks of each of my cars. Living in coastal California no problems with extreme cold or heat.

    Question about Zeiss Terra 8x25

Well I've had the 8x25 Terra EDs for over a month now and I love them. I find it hard to believe that at their price point (about $350) they are as good as they are -- very bright, good glare control, very little CA, very quick focus snaps right into view, decent FOV...I'm just saying what many...

Cleaning recommendation for lenses on new 8x25 Terra ED binoculars

Just out of curiosity I went and looked again at something I had seen on the B&H website when I bought the wipes. It is the Zeiss Representative answering a question about the safety of using the wipes on coated lenses. This is what they posted: ZEISS Lens Cleaning products are safe for use on...

Cleaning recommendation for lenses on new 8x25 Terra ED binoculars

Thanks for posting all of that -- It really does seem like they are conveying two somewhat opposing messages at the same time -- everything you've just quoted from the website vs. the fact that they include the pre-moistened cloths in their cleaning kits for binoculars and scopes and camera...

Cleaning recommendation for lenses on new 8x25 Terra ED binoculars

If Zeiss is advising that you should only use water (which I haven't seen myself -- where did you read that?) then they are saying two entirely contradictory things because the Instructions that come with the box of their pre-moistened cleaning cloths feature illustrations of how you should use...

Cleaning recommendation for lenses on new 8x25 Terra ED binoculars

Following up -- I got all the cleaning stuff from B&H and carefully cleaned 3 older bins of mine to be sure there no issues with the Zeiss pre-moistened cleaning cloths. I blew and brushed, then used the pre-moistened cloths, finishing off with a Zeiss microfibre cloth. Perfect! No spots, no...

Cleaning recommendation for lenses on new 8x25 Terra ED binoculars

A quick update. I just had an excellent conversation with the rep at B&H. They really are terrific to deal with. He said it was fine for me to clean the lenses and if the imperfection is still there then send them back. No problem. And all I have to do is call them within the 30 day window and...

Cleaning recommendation for lenses on new 8x25 Terra ED binoculars

I received my new bins from B&H about a week ago. In a separate thread I will post my experience, but in short, I love them more every day I use them as eye placement against the upper eyelid (wearing no glasses) becomes more natural and automatic. I have noticed some very small spots on the...

    Rick young harness

Thanks to Steve and BryanP! I thought you were talking about some kind of exotic "metal zip tie" that I wasn't familiar with -- I must have read the comment wrong -- Yes, I am very familiar with Zip Ties and I will give it a try as soon as my new RY ultra-light harness arrives and I need to...
