    Just started phonescoping

That looks very nice. I'm aware the phone's not the best, so I'll probably have to upgrade. I'm currently using a Gitzo tripod at the moment. In fact I'm trying to decide whether to sell my Canon 600 IS USM as it's not really practical for me to take both out into the field. I have been clasping...

Getting enough light into the scope seems to be the biggest issue.

    Just started phonescoping

I got a Kowa 883 scope just before lockdown so have only started being able to test it over the last two weeks. It’s incredibly hard to get photos but I’m having a little success with video. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are there are good deals on the KOWA TSN-883 at the mo?

Lol. Scope turned up and we’ve gone into lockdown. That was a waste of money.

    Digiscoping with Kowa 883

I am interested in digiscoping too. I’ve just ordered a 883 and am waiting for it to turn up. I have a canon 600mm usm is but I’m not sure how practical it will be to have both in the field, so was planning to maybe move over to digiscoping.

I purchased from Ace. Looking forward to getting out and enjoying Longham Lakes.

It takes me a long time to commit to something!

Thinking of getting one of these for the new year but I'm not too sure the best place to buy. Ace Optics seems to have 7% off at mo, but I don't know if historically there are better deals early January.

    Scotland advice

A few people have said that now. I will of course update once I get back. It's still a while away yet and I'm already looking at next year's options if I don't see eagles.

    Scotland advice

Right, I've booked my trip through Heatherlea, ordered my book off Gordon and will have three solid days of birding via pinewoods, moorland, stornaway and the moray coast. I'm unlikely to see Capercallie, but the eagles are a possibility and the crested tits visit the hotel's feeders. I don't...

    Scotland advice

That's a pity but not the end of the world. It's the sea eagles I'd really like to see so I'm trying to work out if I should take a trip with my wife and daughter to Mull or just try this trip. https://www.heatherlea.co.uk/birdwatching-holidays-new-short-breaks-scottish-birding-in-early-autumn
