    Old "Emu" paper

Hi I'm trying to get a copy of this old paper from the Australian bird journal "Emu": Stidolph, R.H.D. (1927). Stragglers and Migratory Birds of New Zealand. Emu 26 (3) 212 - 219. Its £40 to download so I'd rather not if theres another option. Please get in touch if you can help. cheers George

Hi Tor Bubo are happy to accept corrections and updates if you'd like to contribute :) I do so myself for countries I know well and have "official" (ie the relevant birders organisation) information for.

Best day tour to Cano Negro from La Fortuna

Can anybody recommend one/any of the companies doing day trips (boat tours) to Cano Negro from La Fortuna, in respect of the birding experience? We are looking at the most budget friendly option to bird Cano Negro.

April Sun in Cuba: Playa Pesquero, Holguin April 2017

Hi That would be great - always interesting to see other trip reports. If you think Cuba is good wait until you get to Panama - best birding ever.

April Sun in Cuba: Playa Pesquero, Holguin April 2017

Hi Yuri charged us 120 CUC for the 4 of us, which was a good deal. Lunch at the restaurant was extra. Carlos our birdguide might also be able to arrange something similar.

Happy to help! I'll be interested to see how the birds change in June. No migrants maybe?

April Sun in Cuba: Playa Pesquero, Holguin April 2017

A tropical paradise. Best all inclusive we've ever stayed at. We had a brief look at Luna Y Mares, just ran out of time basically!

April Sun in Cuba: Playa Pesquero, Holguin April 2017

Introduction Cuban bird reports are like buses. You wait ages, and then two come along (see Adare’s “Cuba with a few birds” posted 5th May 2017). This gives a useful insight into birds likely to be found at the western end of Cuba, and can be compared with this report from the eastern end. His...

    Panama February 2017

Hi David & Sarah Self-drive looked to be ok outside Panama City, its a small country and the roads were good that we saw. You're looking at $90 pp for a half-day bird-trip usually. Depends how confident you are about identifying the birds. Some birds you probably do need a guide to find (eg...

    Panama February 2017

Introduction I had always wanted to visit Central America, and was planning to visit Costa Rica initially. But I wanted to do it independently and was quite surprised just how few reports there were on doing it this way. I also didn’t fancy driving that much. The bird tour companies appeared to...

    Bee Hummingbird near Holguin?

Hi Peter not quite as close as I would have hoped! The field guide shows some of its range in the east of the country, so maybe there are nearer sites. Appreciate the reply anyway.

    Bee Hummingbird near Holguin?

Hi I'm staying at Playa Pesquero in April, in Holguin Province. Are there any sites within a few hours (day-trip) of here where I could see Bee Hummingbird, or any bird-guides in the east that could take me to a site? cheers George

    Menorca June 2015

We were based at Cala des Forcat in the far west of Menorca in an all-inclusive hotel for a week in late June. The temperature was above 30 every day, so bird activity was obviously quiet. We saw quite a few birds from the transit bus which went from the airport in the east to the hotel: Booted...
