    Bird Observatories in the UK

I have stayed a few times at Portland Bird Obs in the past. Very good if you happen to be there when migration is in full swing. Anything can turn up on land and in their mist nets or fly past during sea watches. If the bird is particularly good/rare/of interest, they bring it to show those that...

I use a gitzo tripod and wimberley head for my 300 f2.8 with 2x converter and 1d mkiii. Not all that heavy IMO.

    Canon SX60HS in Action

So what would be the recommendation, SX50 or SX60? If have been reading a lot online and it seems the sx60 can't compete with the sx50 that's 2 years old. I'm tempted by the sx60 but it seems the sx50 takes a better picture. Seems strange to me that this could be the case.

    Canon SX50 Specs

Yes I noticed the price change. Annoying. But when it was priced at £199 it was out of stock. Same as pc world!

    Canon SX50 Specs

In that case, can you point me in the direction of the website/shop that sells a sx60 for £274? I will be most impressed! Found a website that sells the sx60 for £276. Cheaper than some sx50 's.

    Canon SX50 Specs

I have been looking at the sx50 and sx60. Trying to decide which would be better as there are those who upgraded to the sx60 then reverted back to the sx50 and those who say the sx60 is superior. I am more swayed by the sx50 for a 'walkabout' camera as it's not always practical for me to carry...

    Late Osprey, Angus, Scotland 8/11/14

I visited a fish farm near Inverness around 1998. Chatting to one of the locals, he said he'd seen Osprey in November and December!

    Collins Bird App

Would have been Ok on my galaxy note 3. Lots of money lost only doing an iphone/ipad version of this app!

Could anyone tell me what the 'immediate action' drill is, if egg collectors are spotted?

Yep, you hit the nail on the head there. It's all about the ££££'s

Unique birding event as rare Mediterranean wader breeds for the first time in Sussex

Ppl who visit the reserve are gonna be told the birds are there. Why mention that they are breeding as well. What do they gain by releasing that info? What comes next, an arrow to mark the nest site?
