    Dark Dark-bellied Brent Goose, UK

Hello all, I recently popped down at Ferrybridge to have a look at the DB Brents wintering there. There were a few Pale-bellieds amongst all the Dark-bellieds plus this odd individual. Perhaps a hybrid Black Brant x DB Brent? Or even Grey-bellied? Obvious things I noticed compared to DBs...

Yellow Wagtail ssp. beema? (NW ITALY)

Hi Lou, Thanks. Yes, "unfortunately" I know and agree on variability of flava, but I have never come across such a pale-chinned flava (with slightly lighter head than average), whereas I have seen a couple of beemas before which seemed to have less white than this one. Cheers, Silv

Yellow Wagtail ssp. beema? (NW ITALY)

Hello all, Saw this one this morning in NW Italy, seems ok for beema...what do you think? Also saw feldegg, cinereocapilla and flava in the same spot. Cheers, Silvio

Was replying to your post #7 as you were speaking about size whilst I was asking about upper breast. Silv

Dark juv. Gull ID, Madeira (August 2011)

P.S: As I said, it looked different for plumage, and I was asking about individual variation on upper breast colour, not on size... Silv

Dark juv. Gull ID, Madeira (August 2011)

I have seen many Yellow-legged Gulls, as I live in Italy and not England and I think that I've have learnt something about judging bird size in six year's birding every day (did I say it was of another species because it was bigger by any chance? can't remember doing so...) and if I asked an...

Dark juv. Gull ID, Madeira (August 2011)

It looked bigger than the other Atlantic yellow leggeds, as I said above, and surely wasn't a LBB for size and for the fact that I've seen many and it did not look like one in the field...it looked like an ordinary Yellow legged at the beginning and then, as it came closer, it was darker and...

Dark juv. Gull ID, Madeira (August 2011)

Nope, sorry...I just had it for a few seconds as a fly-by over the harbour and then we both disappeared :) Silv

Dark juv. Gull ID, Madeira (August 2011)

Hi all, I was in Canical harbour, in Madeira, two weeks ago and saw this gull, slightly bigger than the other atlantic yellow-leggeds that were around...it looked unusually dark on head and upper breast for juv. Yellow-legged and I have an idea about it...but I wanted to hear your opinions...

    Lesser-spotted Eagle? Turkey

Thanks a lot. I was 90% sure it was a LSE for size and structure but just wanted to make sure you could exclude GSE from this photo (sorry about the quality but it was taken through my bins). I also saw a 2cy Imperial Eagle that same day over a small mosque in the centre of Istanbul. Ciao Silv

    Buff-bellied Pipit?? N Italy

Hi! A friend of mine took this photo in the North of Italy last week. He said it looked 1-2 cm bigger than the Meadow Pipits next to it. It also has a general yellowish tone and quite fine streaking on flanks. Could it be Buff-bellied? Many thanks, Silv

    Italy- raptor id please

Hi, I live near that area and Lesser Kestrel, Kestrel, RF Falcon, Hobby etc all occour in June. On the other hand this photo does not show any kind of streaking on underparts (excluding rf falcon and juv. hobby, although as the pic quality isn't great there could well be some...) making me...
