Quick question for a Harpia owner

Just to thank you all of you very much for your comments, particularly Beth. Confirms my suspicion that the thing has broken (in exactly the same place) once again , just a few weeks after a full service ! The last time this blasted ring just dropped out completely, now it's just loose. I'll...

Quick question for a Harpia owner

Hello there, could anybody owning a Harpia please just confirm to me whether the grooved metal ring at the objective lens (see photo) is supposed to be stuck to the scope (ie,immovable), or should it be loose enough that it can we swivelled round and round in a circle with one's finger ? Thanks...

    Pink Headed duck radio programme

Maybe Americans are just as resistant to change....I can't stop thinking about a Seinfeld episode where Elaine's boss Mr Peterman deserts his company to go and live in Myanmar (which will "always be Burma to me").... Merry Christmas !

    Nikon for birders 2015?

Hi...I'm really interested in this new lens but I would want to use it with my 'old' D7000 coupled with a TC14.....I'm a bit confused as to whether AF would work or not with this combo. I have read that there's no problem with the more recent D7100/7200, but I've not seen the D7000...

    Brown-backed Parrotlets at Ubatuba...

Hi - does anyone have any recent info about these birds at Praia Vermelha near Ubabtuba? Are they being seen these days ? (I'm planning a visit in mid-November). Is there anything important to add to what's already been written in the recent Cotinga article? I've tried to get in touch with...

Best place to see Golden Parakeet (Guarouba guaruba)

Hello...if it's not too late a reply, they certainly used to be available at Amazonia Nat Park near Itaituba. I went twice there (2003 and 2005 I think) and saw them both times without too much trouble. Not a particularly compfy place to stay though - just go to the Ibama office in Itaituba and...

Anyone heard from Kay Optical recently?

but what's the alternative in London ?? Too right it does. I've actually enjoyed going to the shop in Morden over the years and it pains me to say I wont go again following yet another, pretty major, problem with an order recently. I dont know what's going on there but standards have fallen...

problems using Olympus LS10 with external mic

Dear Harry and Mitch , Many thanks to you both for your helpful comments.....rather unwittingly I seem to have cracked it ! I do have the K6, and the plug in power was indeed turned to OFF , so having gone over your comments I still couldn't see what what was wrong. Like with my minidisk...

seawatching at Birling Gap , East Sussez , UK

ah great - thanks very much for the info. when I've been in the past I've never really known what to do and end up birding from the cafe, which is hardly ideal with people just the other side of the glass windows eating their cream teas and staring out... i think i know your track - i walk west...

problems using Olympus LS10 with external mic

Hello... I recently got a LS10 and I want to use it with an external microphone ( Sennheiser ME66 ) ...my problem is that when i stick the mic in, the level meter drops right down to almost zero and there is suddenly ''no power'' - any recordings are much much fainter than they would be using...
