R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

The lens covers made by NEOPRENE CAMERA CASES | Outdoor photography gear are very good quality, better than the more expensive Lens Coat. I have their covers on my 100-500mm and can recommend it

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

I use these as they are fast enough though not cheap; there are faster cards but you’ll be adding a lot more cost for these

    Lens repair

Probably a bit like the the 500mm F4 lens in that it is no longer supported by Canon so spare parts will not be available anymore other than secondhand parts

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

I have 2 Lexar 256GB 270MB/s in my R7. The faster the card the better the write speed, especially if going to use the video function. The 200MB/s Sandisk cards you mention will do the job though

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

When the R7 locks on it can be very good but i am still struggling when a bird is against a busy background. American Golden Plover on Hoini Fair Isle in pretty windy and grey conditions with ISO ramped up

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

I have managed to get some excellent images with the R7 and the 100-500mm RF mount lens but there are still some instances where the single spot is just to big and it goes off subject and hunts. I am still trying with different settings, there are a hell of a lot, and might have found a solution...

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

A few in flight images using the R7 and 100-500mm lens; taken in Israel this spring. All electronic shutter; 15pfs exept for the Swallow when I was using 30fps but even when using 30fps I feathered the shutter depressions. I've yet to see any real cases of rolling shutter in any iamges taken

    Eilat.....

The Levants Sparrowhawks have arrived in force today; personal tallies of 3000 in the mountains, 1000 in off the Red Sea at North Beach at Dusk plus scattered hundreds in the southern Arava. Honeys starting to build and lots of Steppe Buzzards around with many thousands over the IBRCE early...

    Eilat.....

‘The mountain roads were closed as were sections of the N90. 3 years ago a dozen or so members of a teenage school party were swept to their deaths on the outskirts of Eilat despite having both teachers and a guide (who also drowned). The threat of death by flash-flooding is very real around...

    Eilat.....

Last year the KM19 pools were completely overgrown with reeds and no sandgrouce had been reported there for sometime. I did suggest to Noam that a section could be cut for the sandgrouse. However as Litchensteins are now being seen regularly during the day in Holland Park reed clearance might...

I've had both those in May at Mr. Hermon as well as Rock Bunting and Rock Nuthatch whilst the Black Redstarts are rather nice there as well.

    Eilat.....

Don't neglect the other town parks; Central / Imax park is generally better than Ofira these days and Canada Park can be very good at times for flycatchers.
