    Endemic to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, these were common around the lodge and at higher elevations and are not considered vulnerable. They were actually skulky and hard to photograph.

    We saw these Santa Marta parakeets (Pyrrhura viridicata) on the San Lorenzo Ridge above El Dorado Lodge; designated as endangered by Birdlife International, they are endemic to the Sierra Nevada De Santa Marta in Colombia.
