I did own a 8x32 FL for some time, but the new 8x30 SFL is so much better. I still own the 7x42 FL and it is definitely much better than the 8x32 FL. But it is also much heavier as all x42 FLs. The x42 FL models all have Abbe-Koenig prisms which I think makes them particularly outstanding... -

I think there must be a misunderstanding. My copy shows a very small part of China being marked with the range. But all of the map outside of China has a paler brown that has nothing to do with the range. The area outside of China is not depicted. Any claims China has in the area would of course...- Swissboy

I agree that it is a terrible book. But I'm still surprised how well I got along with it on my first trip in 2005/06. I also had the van Perlo book, but that was so much less helpful. Agree that those are not that critical. But the ocular covers are, as you are showing. Must be a non-Zeiss product though. And they look a bit large considering you want a very compact binocular-solution. I assume, these don't fit into the provided case. Pentax provides a more compact cover for... -

You mention the missing lens covers early on in your review, referring to dealing with the topic later on. But I can't see any other mention later. At any rate, decent lens protections should come with such a high quality glass. -
