    In and around South Staffordshire.

    The Himley/ Baggeridge Kingfisher was on Upper Wishing Pool late on Thurs 27th, in vegetation just north of the big fir tree overhanging the pool. He (it was a he!) flew there from the branch at the bottom of the run-off down to Lower Wishing Pool, near the plastic bottle!

    I also failed to find the Am GP at Slimbridge (on Wednesday), but did photograph a pair of Peregrines (which did hassle the plovers). A Merlin also had a go. Spectacular, but a bit frustrating.

    Spotted Sandpiper, wintering on a reservoir in Cardiff, about 10 mins from home. It's been here about 6 weeks now. I saw it when it 1st arrived, but took my wife and aunty to see it today.     Sent an email to some of the Glamorgan Birders to that effect this AM. It would be nice to see a couple of Leach's, but without the carnage that they must have endured last year. Seeing one blown backwards over the M4 at Eglwys Nunydd reservoir was not good.
