    TCON 17 Converter Purchase

Cactusdave, thanks for the link and the advice, appreciated. Rah, there certainly are many reputable shops to purchace this lense from in the UK. $93 new is very cheap, in the UK you could say an average TCON 17 converter would be the equivalent dollar price i.e £93. Bargain hunting is all part...

    TCON 17 Converter Purchase

Having looked at all the great results people are getting with the TCON 17 converter I thought I would get one. I have heard there are fake TCON lenses on the market. Is there any way of telling before you buy? I've looked at various sites including Ebay and note there are big price...

    North Cornwall Coastal Walks

We have just got back from a wonderful three day coastal walking break. Based at Harlyn Bay excellent weather gave us the opportunity to walk the coastal footpaths from Padstow to Porthcothan. The birds didn't let us down. Woken up every morning to the resident Blackbird singing his heart out...

    Fav Bird Book

Collins Bird Guide is like a shadow at the moment, always with me. Brilliant field guide. AA Readers Digest Book of British Birds, given to me many years ago by my parents. Always liked the illustrations in this book plus it has sentimental value. 'The Big Bird Race' by Bill Oddie and David...

    Hello from Cornwall, England

Hi Ally, Like yourself I am a lapsed birder returning to the fold. It's been great fun getting back into it. Mrs Wild Bill and myself are having a weeks holiday in Padstow in May and are hoping to visit the Camel Trail and explore the North Cornish coastline to see all the wonderful birds you...

    Deceived by your eyes?

I thought I saw a White Egret in a field that turned out to be a farmers idea of a scarecrow, namely animal feed bag tied to a stick. The other time I was driving along the road where some electricity cables crossed over it. I saw what I believed to be burnt out little bird corpses dangling...

    Three from to-day

Nice pics of the Oystercatchers. Always have fond memories of theses birds. We were camping near Lossiemouth and didn't get a wink of sleep thanks to the continuous peeping of what seemed like a million Oystercatchers all through the night! Hold no grudges though, nice bird.

    Muddy Bird Day

A break appeared in the wet weather, so off down to Exminster Marshes in Devon. The footpath is pure mud and extremely slippery. Nothing much to be seen in the fields but some acrobatic Longtailed Tits, a very vocal Gold Finch and busy little Reed Bunting made up for it. On getting to the Exe...

What Bird Got You Interested in Birding?

The bird that first caught my imagination was the Common Starling. I was about 4 or 5 years old and clearly remember the dense flocks of Starlings swirling around in the sky getting ready to roost for the night in the now long gone Elm trees. It fascinated me that the thousands of birds appeared...
