    Pels Fishing Owl

We tried to get a decent photo of a Pels Fishing Owl at Drotskys in Botswana, but it was a bit far away. Can anyone recommend an area in South Africa where one has a chance of spotting these beautiful birds? Perhaps we will be luckier next time!

Steve, We also saw them at Spitzkoppe. We hiked around Small Bushman's Paradise and found about six pairs on the rocks and in the trees there. Not sure where else you could find them. Sorry.

Keith, this bird is a Yellow-bellied Greenbul. It is a wild bird which was why we found it so surprising that it was trusting enough to eat out of our hands.

    General observations and bird reports.

It's amazing how quickly they adapt to their new circumstances, Pam. We saw a one-legged guinea fowl that was just as agile on his single pin as the two-legged ones. I hope she survives. Jane
