The wing speculum is comparatively small, and it has a strong white malar, and some black in the moustacial. Not observed since 1971 and might be extinct, or may be surviving in an unknown area? [edit] TaxonomyDescribed as distinct species in 2007 based on three 20th century museum specimens previously labeled as Slaty Brush-Finch, and therefore obviously monotypic.
