This is a monotypic species.
It was formerly included as subspecies in Olive-winged Bulbul.

Forests, forest edges, coastal scrub and plantations.
[edit] Behaviour
Usually seen singly or in pairs. Often joining other bulbuls in fruiting trees and scrubs.
Diet includes fruit.
