• C. c. olivaceiceps:

• Subtropical Caribbean slope of western Costa Rica

• C. c. canigularis:

• Eastern Andes of Colombia (Cundinamarca) and south-western Venezuela

• C. c. conspicillatus:

• Western and Central Andes of Colombia

• C. c. paulus:

• Subtropical Andes of south-western Ecuador

• C. c. signatus:

• Subtropical Andes of eastern Ecuador and Peru(south to Cuzco)

Dry and moist forests, moist montanes and forest edge to at least 2100m.
