• Chestnut upperparts
• White supercillium
• White wingbar (two wingbars according to some sources)
• Outer primaries edged white giving white edge to folded wing
• Streaky-grey underparts
• Juvenile darker and lacking the wingbars

Found at higher elevation than Gray-breasted Wood-Wren which it is most similar to; the wing bars found in the adult are specific when present.

South America: found in the Andes of northern Peru and immediately adjacent Ecuador

[edit] Taxonomy

Monotypic^[1]. More closely related to White-breasted Wood-Wren than Gray-breasted Wood-Wren contrary to what should be assumed from plumage.

East slope of Andes (~7000 feet)

Territorial, mostly found near the forest floor.
