  • Face black continuing to lower breast
  • Black primaries and outer tail feathers
  • Rest of plumage pale grey

Female mostly pale grey

There are 5 subspecies:

  • C. m. mindanensis:
  • C. m. everetti:
  • Sulu Archipelago (Bongao, Jolo, Lapac and Tawitawi)

This taxon is considered a subspecies of Black-shouldered Cicadabird by some authors[2]

It's sometimes placed in the genus Edolisoma.
