45-50 cm. White plumage, large yellow and white crest, yellow under wings and tail, blue eyerings, black bill, black iris in males, reddish in females.

New Britain and New Ireland in the Bismarck Archipelago, Papua New Guinea.

They nest in tree hollows; 2 eggs are laid and are incubated by both sexes.

The diet includes seed, nuts, berries, fruit, insects and larvae.
