25cm. Rufous brown, blue-grey head, iridescent green patches on wings, reddish bill, dark brown iris and dark red feet. Sexes similar. The young is duller than adult.

Sierra Leone, Angola, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Guinea, Cameroon, Gabon, Nigeria, Ghana and Togo.

There are 2 subspecies:

  • T b brehmeri
  • T b infelix

Primary rainforest.

[edit] Behaviour

The nest is built from twigs, leaves and other plant material and is placed in a tree. 1-2 eggs are laid.

The diet includes seeds, fallen fruits, insects and small animals.
