• Blue chin, throat, sides of head
• Crimson forehead
• Green body
• Black bristles surround the bill

Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand

There are 3 subspecies^[1]:

• M. a. asiatica:

• North-eastern Pakistan to central Burma and southern China (western Yunnan)

• M. a. davisoni:

• South-eastern Burma to southern China (southern Yunnan) and central Vietnam

• M. a. chersonesus:

• Mountains of eastern peninsula Thailand

Evergreen broadleaved forest and second growth forest at elevations over 600m.

The diet includes fruits, berries and insects.

[edit] Breeding

They nest in tree holes, the clutch consists of 3-4 white eggs. Both parents care for the young.
