Bright purple with black wings and tail, bright green chin and crown.

Known to science from a single skin obtained in Bogotá, Colombia early in the 20th century. No living specimens have ever been found, and the species is assumed to be extinct.

Monotypic.

From location of specimen, it is assumed that it lived in the Cloud Forest and shrubland, 1200 and 3400 m.
