Light brown; male - red bill and legs, pale grey area on side of head and neck.

Uruguay, northern Argentina, Venezuela, northern and central Brazil.

There are 3 subspecies:

  • A b brasiliensis
  • A b ipecutiri
  • A b obscurus

Freshwater lakes and pools with dense vegetation nearby.
