65-75cm. Two plumages - all dark bronze, or bronze with white patches, pink feet.

Southern New Zealand.

Monotypic.

Waters around coasts. Breeds on rocky islands.

[edit] Behaviour

The nests are cups built from seaweed and twigs, which are raised; they nest colonially.

The diet includes fish.
