Identification

10cm.

Distribution

Africa between equator and 25 dg S.
Western Africa: DRC, Angola
Eastern Africa: southern Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi
Southern Africa: northern Namibia, Botswana, northern Zimbabwe

Taxonomy

This is either a monotypic species[1] or one with two subspecies, nitidula and plumbaria[2].

Brown Firefinch is sometimes considered a subspecies of Bar-breasted Firefinch.

Habitat

Open areas, gardens.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes insects and seeds.
