Bill moderately short, straight, and rather thick. Shining green above; crown and gorget glittering green; breast shining green; belly buff thickly disked green; under wing coverts cinnamon buff (conspicuous in flight); central tail feathers bronze, rest creamy buff tipped bronze.
Sexes similar.

Northwest Venezuela south in Andes to western Ecuador.
