The CMBO boasts one of the most active and well maintained hummingbird / butterfly gardens in New Jersey. Native butterfly host plantings are mixed in with hummigbird attractive plants thruought the property.There is a small birding trail and a pond with hummingird misters set up in the summer.

Hummingbird feeders are set up as well as seed feeders and native berrying plants for songbirds. Spoiling fruit is supplied for the butterflies as well as all the blooming flowers.There are always several species of butterflies on hand as well as Ruby-throated Hummingbird during nesting season. Quite often different western hummingbird species will show up in the fall.

Gift shop and full facilities are located inside the Audubon Society headquarters .Highly prized native plants are also often on sale here. This place is a real gem for any nature enthusiast and it's not unlikely you will spend several enjoyable hours in a visit.

I spent 2 days in early November and we had a great time! While the migration movement has diminshed it was such a nice place to visit during the offseason. Cape May is well known for its raptor migration. I recommend the Hawk Platform, Higbee beach, the meadows and Rhea Farm (fee attached to the farm). Cape May is the tip of NJ and is relatively small. I think next time I go I may just rent bicycles to travel bewtween sites. There are lots of local birders and they are friendly and helpful. Accomodations were plentiful. Recommend the Congress Hall Hotel. Its OLD but well kept. Pros
