The members of this genus are more often included in genus Chaetocercus. If recognized, this genus would include Little Woodstar, Santa Marta Woodstar, Esmeraldas Woodstar, Decorated Woodstar (possibly a hybrid), Hartert's Woodstar (possibly a hybrid), Gorgeted Woodstar, Rufous-shafted Woodstar, and White-bellied Woodstar.
