Family: Casuariidae

Description

Contains two genera with four large, flightless species from Australia and New Guinea.
The three cassowaries share a casque or helmet on top of their head. Two species also have wattles.

Taxonomy

Casuariidae is a family in the order Casuariiformes.
It was formerly included in the order Struthioniformes. The Emu was formerly placed in its own familiy Dromaiidae.
